✓ Why don’t we drill with a “gun”?

1. The guns used in jewelry stores are not single-use , and although they are cleaned between each client, they will never be as healthy as a 100% sterile single-use needle. The risk of infection is therefore almost non-existent. (Make sure, however, that your piercer respects all gestures and all sanitary rules, such as wearing a new pair of sterile gloves, for example.)

2. The ear piercing gun is a very violent procedure. : propelling a piece of jewelry through your flesh or cartilage creates trauma that can increase healing time, breaking cartilage and often resulting in permanent deformities. Although it seems quick, it is more painful than a needle.

3. The gun is inaccurate: It is rare to reach the exact desired location (you may end up with one hole higher than the other). We use a hollow needle, which is much more precise and much less traumatic for the tissues.

4. The unsuitable jewel: causes lesions on non-pierced parts (behind the ears, nasal septum, etc.) In addition, the "butterfly" type of closure is conducive to the development of infectious foci (spaces not accessible for care).

✓ Why do we only drill with sterile titanium?

We have chosen to pierce only with titanium (your jewelry is opened in front of you at the time of piercing to ensure its sterility). Indeed, surgical titanium is one of the materials best tolerated by the body, moreover, it meets the regulations concerning health safety around piercing practices (Decree of December 12, 2008)

✓ Why don't we put rings on the cartilage, navel and nose?

During your piercing appointment we have decided not to fit you with a ring as medical jewelry, in fact, the ring delays healing in the majority of cases and has a greater tendency to create small piercing balls near the piercing. We therefore advise for the nostril to wait 2 to 3 months of healing before switching to a ring and at least 6 months of healing for your cartilages. Obviously, healing being very different from one person to another, this waiting time can vary.

✓ Why don't we pierce children before the age of 12?

Aside from the risk of infection for your child, he can hurt himself with his earring. The piercing can cause inflammation and make his ear sensitive. It could possibly be dangerous if he manages to remove his earring and puts it in his mouth. The two small holes made on your child will be permanent, which can cause problems depending on the location if later he decides to make several to have a nice regular line of earrings on his ear or if later the child no longer wants to wear earrings. He will then be able to choose for himself when he is a little older. Piercing can sometimes be a little painful for little ones, it is better to make it more bearable with more understanding of the act and maturity.

✓ Which piercing hurts the most?

Generally speaking, cartilage piercings are often considered more painful. However, pain is very subjective, so the same piercing will not hurt as much from one person to another. In any case, the pain is very brief, just during the piercing. Once the medical jewelry is installed, you will only feel a warming sensation on the pierced area.

✓ How do I know if the piercing is healed?

The piercing is completely healed when the "hole" is white, there is no more oozing or small scabs forming around the jewelry and it is insensitive. This can take 6 months to 1 year. The healing of a piercing therefore takes several months. A piercing is never healed in 1 month even if it looks like it.

✓ When can I change my piercing?

Before changing your jewelry, it is recommended to wait several weeks, which vary depending on the healing process of each individual. It is important to note that the longer you wait before changing your jewelry, the lower the risk of complications, such as the appearance of a small lump, for example.

✓ Can you get multiple piercings at the same time?

It is entirely possible to have several piercings done at the same time, provided you take a few things into consideration before doing so. For example, it is advisable to have the piercings done on only one ear, to leave one ear without sensitivity so you can sleep peacefully on it (much less problematic if you pierce the lobes because being on an area composed of soft tissue there are no worries on that side). More piercings leads to more inflammation, therefore longer healing. If this is your first piercing, we advise you to start with just one to have a first experience of what healing from such an act is like.

✓ How long before you can change your jewelry?

Be patient!

You implant a foreign body into your body, it has to accept it, so give it time.
For the lobe, you can change it after 6 weeks. For the cartilage, you will have to wait 3 months.
We are not all equal when it comes to healing, it can vary.
If the stem of the jewel is too long and it moves, do not hesitate to come and visit us to adjust it and thus avoid the formation of a keloid.

Welcome 😊 How can we help you?
